Christians are called to be ambassadors to the world – to represent the Kingdom of God and to reflect the character of Christ. We are citizens of both the community of God, and of the community in which we live. As ambassadors of Christ, our goal is to represent the heart of God, to bear the Message of the Gospel, and to turn hearts toward the Lord. It was this concept of ambassadorship which inspired HCA to start our Student Ambassador Program, through which our students represent HCA and Jesus Christ.
HCA’s Student Ambassador Program is a student leadership program spanning grades 1-12, for which students must apply and be accepted. Our lower school students serve mainly on campus as student greeters and Shadow Day hosts, while the middle and high school Ambassadors serve both on and off campus, assisting with Open Houses, tours, and Shadow Days, and also ministering at local shelters, food pantries, and nursing homes. HCA administration hosts monthly Ambassador meetings, and often invites leadership speakers to inspire and challenge our students. The main goals of this program are to teach servant leadership, to build moral character, and to cultivate hearts to serve. As Student Ambassadors, the members represent both HCA and the Kingdom of God, while serving their community and school, and building relationships with their peers. Each year, the excitement for this program grows, and more and more students apply. After years as Ambassadors, here are some of the things our students have to say about the program:
“I love the opportunity we get to show other people what HCA stands for. Jesus’ love for everyone is able to shine through everything we do, and is passed on to everyone we come in contact with. Even by doing the little things, we can make an impact on the world.”
– Aracelis, Student Ambassador for 8 years
“Being a Student Ambassador gives you great opportunities to serve in the community and in school, and to be a positive influence on others. You get to impact others for Christ and to be a shining light for him.”
– Luke, Student Ambassador for 5 years
“I love using the gift of service to show people that HCA is a wonderful place. I get to love and talk with many people, whether it is at Homecoming or at a Craft Fair. I get to show people that HCA is a family more than it is a school. I love that being a Student Ambassador pushes me to be a leader, a follower, and a servant all at the same time.
– Sarah, Student Ambassador for 4 years
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” -2 Corinthians 5:20 (ESV)
