In all things, God has a plan. Though we sometimes view this truth as a cliché, it remains as certain today as it was in Paul’s epistle to the Romans. Its actuality resounds throughout history, and can often be found in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. It can sometimes be hard to see the Lord’s plan in the midst of difficulty or confusion, but we can rest in the knowledge that He holds our future. He will work everything out for our good. He even uses our unique gifts and passions to fulfill His plans for our lives. For HCA teacher, Mr. Mui, it was his love of physics and engineering that the Lord used to ultimately fulfill a greater purpose.

Mr. Mui studied applied physics and nuclear engineering, and earned his BS from Columbia University and his MS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After graduation, Mr. Mui trained as a nuclear engineer, and even designed a nuclear reactor. He also worked on Wall Street for ten years. After the devastation of 9/11, Mr. Mui decided that he wanted to do something more meaningful with his life, and dedicated himself to teaching mathematics, physics, and finance. He helped start a new high school which later became nationally recognized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He has also served as a Department Chair and Principal in different schools throughout his educational career. He joined the HCA faculty in 2016, and now teaches Algebra 1, Physical Science, Physics, and Selected Topics in Mathematics. He brings a plethora of knowledge and experience to his classroom, and is able to teach his students from a unique perspective.

Since beginning his job at HCA, Mr. Mui has had a great impact on the Academy. He has introduced many new initiatives, started a Drone club, and led his students to victory in the Northern New Jersey region of the nationally-acclaimed Stock Market Game. He teaches his students important lessons, like how to get help when you need help, how to be a good learner, and when to ask questions. He supports them in all areas of their lives, attending music and athletic events, volunteering as an assistant high school baseball coach, and teaching to their specific interests. Mr. Mui’s students have seen continual success in countless areas because of his guidance and inspiration. He has touched the lives of many, just by using the gifts and passions the Lord instilled in him.

When Mr. Mui started his career, he never would’ve guessed that the Lord would lead him to where he is today. God’s greater plan used Mr. Mui’s many accomplishments and unique experiences to pour into the lives of young men and women, who will be reaping the benefits for years to come. HCA is blessed to call Mr. Mui family, and we are so thankful that the Lord led him to us!
