Academics

Hawthorne Christian Academy’s High School program is designed to inspire and equip students to grow in spiritual maturity, achieve academic excellence, and impact the world for Christ. As a college-preparatory school grounded in a biblical worldview, HCA challenges students intellectually while forming them spiritually, preparing them for success in higher education and beyond.

Our curriculum is intentionally structured to cultivate disciplined study habits, critical thinking, and clear communication skills — qualities that serve students well in college, career, and lifelong faithfulness.

Academic Excellence and Advanced Coursework

Students are encouraged to pursue excellence to the fullest of their ability. Honors and AP® courses offer additional academic challenge for qualified students, strengthening analytical reasoning, independent study skills, and time management — all essential for college readiness.

Our grading scale reflects both achievement and academic rigor through weighted GPA calculations. Honors courses receive additional weight, and AP® courses receive further distinction, allowing students to be appropriately recognized for pursuing advanced study.

Academic transcripts include:

  • Weighted GPA calculations

  • Inclusion of all academic and elective courses

  • Additional 0.5 GPA weight for Honors courses

  • Additional 1.0 GPA weight for AP® courses
