Athletics at Hawthorne Christian Academy serve to educate, not only in sports and athletic ability, but also in the development of character, the execution of teamwork, and the practice of goal-setting. It is our philosophy that athletics at Hawthorne Christian Academy are an opportunity to demonstrate God- given abilities in a God-honoring way. Jesus Christ is the main focal point both on and off the playing field. Values such as leadership, self-discipline, perseverance, initiative, and respect are taught and developed.
HCA is a member of the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC), Passaic County Coaches Association (PCCA), and the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). For twelve consecutive years, HCA has been unanimously voted as the recipient of the NJSIAA Sportsmanship Award in our League and County. We have experienced success at both county and state levels. Teams strive to be highly competitive while remaining focused on the ultimate goal of bringing glory to God on the fields and courts.
The Defender Athletic program trains up Christian scholar-athletes to perform and compete to the best of their athletic ability, while focusing on developing character and integrity. While we seek to be competitive and to secure victories, it is our truest desire that each Defender may glorify God in every game, meet, and practice with the best of their skills and efforts.
