Apply for HCA!

Admissions

Welcome to Hawthorne Christian Academy! HCA is a Christ-centered family community, offering preschool through grade 12. We consider ourselves partners with our parents, united in presenting Christ to our students in academics, attitude, and example. It is our desire to equip our students academically and spiritually, and to release them to make an impact in the world for the Kingdom.

Since 1981, our mission has been to build on a strong spiritual foundation, teaching all subjects from a Biblical worldview, as we continue to adhere to high academic standards. Our commitment is to challenge our students’ minds and feed their faith. We aim to discover and cultivate students’ strengths and gifts, acknowledging them as God’s unique creations, each with a mission and a purpose.

Spiritual Commitment

One parent or guardian must be a professing Christian, agree with HCA’s statement of faith, and provide a testimony.

Academic Standards

Application documents should show that the student is a motivated learner and has the ability to succeed in a traditional classroom.

Behavioral Expectations

Students and parents must exhibit behavior, both in and out of school, that is consistent with HCA and Christian values.

Financial Responsibility

All financial obligations to HCA must be kept current and in good standing for an application to be accepted.

The Application Process

1

Online Application

Complete and submit one (1) student application for each student seeking admission ($200 application fee for each K-12 applicant). Online applications include questionnaires, document uploads, and recommendation forms.

2

Admissions Testing

All students entering grades 1-12 must sit for a placement test. The testing is grade-level-appropriate (focusing mainly on math and reading) and takes about one hour. Preschool and Kindergarten applicants may be asked to come in for a brief Admissions Screening.

3

Family Interview

Once all application documents are submitted and testing is complete, families will be asked to join the HCA Admissions Committee for a Parent/Family Interview. Students entering grades 7-12 must join their parents for the Interview.
