Christian Service Program

Equipping Students to Impact the World for Christ
Christian Service Program

Christian Service Program The purpose of this program is to provide a curricular experience for students in Grade six through twelve that highlights the centrality of service in the Christian’s life. It is hoped that because of the program the following changes will occur in the students:

  • A greater awareness and acceptance of their responsibility to serve God and their fellow man
  • A greater knowledge of the opportunities for service
  • A greater sensitivity to the needs of others
  • A greater manifestation of those attributes of God such as love, mercy, sympathy, justice, and joy in their own lives, and the ability to effectively direct these traits through service to others
  • A measure of growth that will produce a more Christ-like young person better able to be salt to the human condition.

The Christian Service Program is mandatory for students in High School for promotion to the next grade and for graduation.  Each student must submit a form requesting approval for his/her assignment by the end of the first quarter. This must be completed in order to take mid-term exams. Each student must also submit a project report on each service completed before the end of May. This must be completed in order to take final exams.

By the very nature of the program, no remuneration can be received by the student for any work submitted for Christian Service. In the past, students have been involved in various local church ministries, summer mission projects, camp counseling, hospital work, nursing home service, student tutoring and assisting the teachers here at Hawthorne Christian Academy.
